Mini Statement:
Ornaglyphs are single panel comics that can stand along as individual paintings or may be grouped together to create original comic strips. The hieroglyphic non-language has no meaning. It is up to the looker to come up with their own story!

Bio:
My name is Mindy Fisher! The ornaglyphology movement was created from a bout of writers block. Back in 1998 I created a comic called Mwaguzi which had the same asemic writing that I use in my paintings. After I graduated from high school I took a break from making comics to pursue a degree in theater (concentration in set design) from Columbia College. When I got out of there I started working on illustration and got back into comics. I co-created two issues of a mini-comic called Undeciluna (which also featured the ornaglyphs which was partly coined by John from Love Bunni Press). After awhile I caught a strong bout of writers block and was encouraged by my boyfriend to create paintings in the ornaglyph style. Since then I have been working on my series in gouache painting form. I also create custom portraits using my carefully chosen palette and style. I enjoy collaborating with my clients to create wacky images. Ornaglyphs make perfect gifts for the oddballs that you know (or for yourself if you are one).

Fun Fact:
Orna is Latin for bird, glyph is greek for print. I don't translate it this way. I do use a lot of birds in my paintings. The glyph stems more from the fact that people say my writing looks like hieroglyphs.
